BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Iran's imports from Kazakhstan rose by 32.6 percent in value and 100 percent in weight in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025), compared to the same month last year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024).
The data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration shows that Iran imported 15,500 tons of products (mainly wheat, barley, various types of equipment, etc.) worth $4.48 million from Kazakhstan during this period against 7,700 tons worth $3.37 million in the same month last year.
The trade turnover between the two countries in the first month totaled 36,400 tons worth $13.2 million, marking a 30.8 percent decline in value and an 11.5 percent drop in weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, the Iranian Customs Administration data shows that Iran imported 1.8 million tons of non-oil products worth $2.85 billion in the first month overall. This represents a growth of 2.3 percent in value and 26.4 percent drop in weight compared to the same month of last year.
Iran mainly focuses on importing essential products that the country needs and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products produced in the country.
