BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. Iran and Russia have discussed holding of a trilateral meeting between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of transport on January 28, Trend reports.

Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzana Sadiq, held a video conference with Russia's Minister of Transport, Roman Starovoyt, on January 13.

Details regarding the location and level of the meeting have not been provided.

Moreover, the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway within the framework of the North-South International Transport Corridor, the development of a roadmap for joint cooperation in 2025, and issues related to maximizing the utilization of the eastern part of the Caspian Sea were discussed during the meeting.

The Iranian minister added that Iran’s Amirabad and Caspian ports have been integrated into the railway network, allowing for maximum utilization of the Caspian Sea's potential.

Sadiq also emphasized the importance of developing both maritime and railway routes within the framework of the North-South International Transport Corridor.

The meeting also reviewed the agreements and understandings reached prior to the visit of Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, to Russia.

To note, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to visit Moscow, Russia, on January 17, where the comprehensive strategic cooperation document between Iran and Russia is expected to be signed.
