BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Kazakhstan's grain exports to Azerbaijan surged by 360,000 tons in the first six months of the marketing year, marking a dramatic 90-fold increase compared to the previous period, Trend reports.
This data was revealed during a meeting of Kazakhstan’s grain headquarters.
Representatives from "Prodcorporation" JSC, subsidiaries of LLP "KTJ-Freight Transportation," Regional Centers for Transportation Management, as well as major rolling stock operators such as "Kaztemirtrans" and "Astyktrans," along with freight shippers and owners of railway branches and seaport terminals, participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Kazakhstan had transported 7.4 million tons of grain in the first half of the marketing year, marking a 47 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Export shipments accounted for 5.8 million tons, reflecting a 53 percent rise.
Additionally, Kazakhstan exported 3.2 million tons of grain to Central Asian countries and 248,000 tons to Afghanistan in the reporting period.
"Over the first two months of 2025 alone, KTJ transported more than 2.4 million tons of grain (+42.5 percent), including 1.9 million tons for export (+44.5 percent). Currently, there is an excess of grain wagons and covered cars, linked to slower loading due to extended holiday periods in March," said the press service of Kazakhstan Railways.
Kazakhstan Railways continues to ensure stable logistics and the readiness of its infrastructure to transport the declared volumes of grain. At the same time, work is actively underway to optimize transportation processes and improve cooperation with freight shippers.
