BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 17. The city hall of Kyrgyzstan's capital has shared data on the progress of the renovation of the Bishkek power plant, Trend reports.
Capital and restorative works on the plant commenced this summer. Despite the ongoing repairs, the plant continues to produce electrical energy. Currently, the plant’s output stands at 70 MW, surpassing the planned capacity of 50 MW.
Recent milestones include the completion of the dismantling of outdated equipment, replacement of boiler heating components, and cleaning of the boilers. Energy blocks No. 3 and No. 4 are undergoing major renovations. Block No. 3 is expected to be operational by October, with Block No. 4 slated for completion by the end of the month.
The renovation campaign also involves cleaning of electrostatic filters, aimed at improving environmental conditions and reducing emissions of harmful substances. Preparations are underway for the installation of a new explosion protection system for the boilers.
To maintain operations, coal from four different deposits is being used. Daily coal consumption ranges from 900 to 1,200 tons, with current stockpile levels at 259,600 tons. The goal is to increase reserves to 300,000 tons by the start of the heating season.
By the beginning of the heating season, nine boilers, four turbines, and two energy blocks will be ready to handle the load. It is anticipated that Blocks No. 3 and No. 4 will generate up to 300 MW.
In February of this year, an accident at the Bishkek power plant resulted in a power outage in the capital.
