BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 25. A new fish incubation facility for rainbow trout and sturgeon breeding has opened in Alamudun district in the Chuy region of Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports via the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing.
The project, valued at $576,000, was financed by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. The complex is designed to incubate fish eggs, with a capacity to produce up to 1 million juvenile fish per incubation cycle.
During the opening ceremony, Bakyt Torobayev, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing, emphasized the project's importance to local farmers. "The implementation of this project will create conditions to supply farmers with fingerlings and support the growth of fish farming in the country," he said. "This development could not only meet domestic fish demand but also increase export volumes."
As part of his visit to the Chuy region, Minister Torobayev also visited the Mitrofanovka fish farm in the village of Lenin, Alamudun district. The Fishery Department has allocated 4 hectares of land to this farm for 10 years.
The total investment in the projects amounts to 83.7 million soms ($974,330). Equipped with an oxygen station, the new facility is capable of producing 3 million juvenile fish annually. These initiatives have also created 150 new jobs in the region.
