Product exports via customs of Iran's Semnan Province rise

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. The export of non-oil products through the customs of Semnan Province, situated in northern Iran, saw a remarkable rise of 63 percent in value and 26 percent in weight over the seven-month period of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) when compared to the same timeframe last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023), as reported by Mourtaza Hajiannejad, Director General of Iran's Semnan Province Customs Administration, Trend reports.

He claims that over the course of seven months, Semnan Province customs exported 245,000 tons of non-oil products worth $134 million.

Hajiannejad added that during the specified period, provincial customs primarily exported non-oil products to Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Pakistan, and Türkiye.

The official reported that the provincial customs handled the export of wire, hydrocarbons, rubber, detergents, and ceramics over the course of the seven months.

He stated that 27,000 tons of non-oil products worth $155 million were imported through provincial customs during seven months. The import of products increased by 48 percent in value and 19 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

“Mainly production equipment, raw materials, etc. were imported to the province. These products were imported from Türkiye, Germany, South Korea, and China,” he said.

The director general emphasized that the provincial customs revenue amounted to 2.92 trillion rials (about $6.62 million), with revenue up three percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 88.7 million tons worth $32.5 billion during seven months of the current Iranian year. Compared to the same period last year, Iran's exports of non-oil products increased by 15 percent in value and 11.4 percent in weight.

To note, Iran's imports of non-oil products for seven months amounted to 21.7 million tons worth $40.5 billion.
