BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. The electricity production of the Damavand combined cycle power plant (Shohadaye Pakdasht Damavand Combined Cycle Power Plant) in Tehran Province, located in northern Iran, rose by 2.5 percent during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Executive Director of the Damavand Electric Power Generation Company of Iran Reza Momeni told reporters, Trend reports.

He said that in the last Iranian year, the Damavand combined cycle power plant produced 15.3 million megawatt hours of electricity.

Momeni added that the power production of the plant increased by four percent compared to the planned plan. This plant provides more than four percent of the country's electricity needs and 30 percent of Tehran's electricity consumption.

The company official noted that in order to provide electricity during the peak electricity consumption period in the summer of this year, two gas blocks and one steam block of the plant will be repaired.

The Damavand combined cycle power plant is located in the southeast of Tehran province of Iran on an area of ​​193 hectares. This plant has 12 160-megawatt gas blocks and six 160-megawatt steam blocks. It is considered the largest power plant in the country.
