BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Malaysia bets on agency coordination to develop halal economy, Special Officer at the CEO's Office of the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) of Malaysia, Mohamad Hadi Bin Hamzah, said in an exclusive interview with Trend on the sidelines of the 14th Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Private Sector Forum held in Baku.
According to him, coordination between government agencies and organizations is a key factor in the development of the halal economy, as the disparate efforts of many structures require unification into a single management system.
"Coordination is crucial. Today, there are numerous agencies, organizations, and structures that perform different functions but operate within the same economic framework. Therefore, the HDC's role is to coordinate these structures for the joint development of the halal economy," he said.
Hamzah emphasized that Malaysia employs a "whole-of-government" approach, whereby all government bodies are involved in the development of the industry.
"We employ a whole-of-government approach. All agencies, of which there are currently more than 300, work together to develop the halal economy," the HDC representative noted.
According to him, there are differences in the system's data collection and processing, including trade indicators.
"For example, one agency is responsible for exports, but import data in a halal context is more difficult to determine. Therefore, specific estimates are used to assess the trade balance," the HDC representative explained.
He added that the need for coordinated work across all agencies makes coordination critical for the sustainable development of the halal economy.
