BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Kazakhstan's current account balance is projected to show significant improvement over the coming years, according to the latest International Monetary Fund (IMF) outlook, Trend reports.
The IMF estimates that Kazakhstan's current account deficit will decrease from 3.3% of GDP in 2023 to 1.5% in 2024, before slightly widening to 2.7% in 2025.
This positive trajectory contrasts with the broader trends observed in the Caucasus and Central Asia region, where the IMF projects the average current account balance to be -2.1% in 2023, stabilizing at -1.5% in 2024 and slightly increasing to -2.0% in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Fund expects Kazakhstan's real gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to grow by 3.5 percent in 2024. The IMF has also maintained its 2025 growth forecast for Kazakhstan, estimating a GDP increase of 4.6 percent for that year.
