BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. Cargo transportation from Ardabil Province in northwestern Iran in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) to other provinces increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of the Road and Transportation Department of the Province Kalimollah Vosughi told reporters, Trend reports.
Speaking to Iranian media, Vosughi noted that over the course of ten months, a total of 3.47 million tons of goods were transported from Ardabil Province to other regions.
Vosughi further explained that the main items transported included cement, potatoes, wheat, steel ingots, watermelons, construction materials, and other goods.
“The Ardabil region of the province saw the transportation of 3 million tons of cargo, followed by 1 million tons from the Namin region, 350,000 tons from the Parsabad region, 257,000 tons from the Khalkhal region, 176,000 tons from the Meshkinshahr region, 149,000 tons from the Bilasuvar region, 96,000 tons from the Aslanduz region, and 81,000 tons from the Germi region," the official said.
Notably, 90 companies, 13,550 trucks, and 12,000 drivers support the cargo transportation sector in Iran’s Ardabil Province.
