ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 28. For three months, the movement of people and transport across the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border will be suspended, Trend reports via the press service of the Chairman of the Uzbek Customs Committee.
“Starting February 1, 2025, at the border crossing point - customs post "Tazhen," located on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan state border - the movement of individuals, passenger cars, buses, and vehicles with a load capacity of up to 3.5 tons will be suspended for three months. This is due to construction and installation works as part of the major renovation of the terminal and overall modernization of the "Tazhen" checkpoint,” stated Khusan Tangriyev, the press secretary of the Chairman of the Uzbek Customs Committee.
He also noted that during this period, individuals, passenger cars, buses, and trucks with a maximum permitted weight of no more than 3.5 tons are advised to use alternative border crossing points, including "Yallama," "Zangiota (Navoi customs post)," "Ok Oltyn," and "Malik." Passenger trains will be organized for individuals via the "Karakalpakstan" railway crossing point.
The movement of freight vehicles with a permitted maximum weight exceeding 3.5 tons through the "Tazhen" (Kazakhstan) -"Dawud Ota" (Uzbekistan) border crossing will continue as usual.
To note, these restrictions have been introduced by the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure the safety of individuals and vehicles during repair and modernization work at the border checkpoints.
