BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Exports through the Bileh Savar border terminal in the Ardabil Province, located in northwestern Iran, have risen by 44 percent in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024), Director General of the Road and Transportation Department of the Province Kalimollah Vosughi told reporters, Trend reports.
Vosughi noted that during this period, the Bileh Savar border terminal handled the export of 700,000 tons of non-oil products. This is a significant increase from the 466,000 tons exported in the same period last year. The goods were transported by around 38,800 trucks.
He explained that primarily agricultural products and construction materials were exported via this border terminal.
In addition, Vosuqi highlighted that during the same period, 30,700 tons of non-oil products were imported through the Bileh Savar terminal, transported by 1,480 trucks. This represents a 24 percent increase in imports compared to the previous year.
"Approximately 588,000 tons of goods were transited through the Bileh Savar border terminal over the ten months, marking a 14 percent increase in transit compared to last year. In the same period last year, about 514,000 tons of goods were transited," Vosughi added.
Iran's Bileh Savar border terminal is located on the border with Azerbaijan.
To note, Iran's non-oil exports abroad amounted to 127 million tons worth nearly $47.8 billion during ten months of the current Iranian year, up 18 percent in value and 12 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
