BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 26. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Mexico hit the ground running at $180.2 million in January of this year.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that this represents an increase of $175.5 million (38.2 times) compared to the same figure in January 2024.

In the course of the reporting period, the trade turnover with Mexico made up a neat 3.54 percent of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover.

Note that, in January of the current fiscal year, there were no export transactions executed from Azerbaijan to the Mexican market, with operations exclusively focused on import activities.

Specifically, imports from Mexico to Azerbaijan during the reporting period amounted to $180.2 million, which is an increase of $175.5 million (38.7 times) compared to the previous year.

In this timeframe, the influx of goods from Mexico constituted 8.78 percent of the total import volume for the nation.

Azerbaijan's aggregate foreign trade volume for January of the current fiscal year escalated to $5.9 billion.

This metric illustrates an escalation of $2.1 billion, reflecting a 70.5 percent increase relative to the corresponding timeframe from the previous fiscal year.

Of the total trade turnover, $3.4 billion was from exports and $2.5 billion from imports, which represent an increase of $1.2 billion (64.8 percent) for exports and $910 million (79.7 percent) for imports compared to the previous year.

The foreign trade balance for the reporting period showed a positive balance of $986 million, which is an increase of $285 million (40.7 percent) compared to the previous year.
