BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. Azerbaijan saw a decline in the number of foreign tourists from January through February 2025, with a total of 338,600 people arriving from 162 countries, which is 0.7 percent less than the same period last year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates that the largest shares of visitors came from Russia (23.4 percent), Türkiye (18.6 percent), India (9.9 percent), Iran (9.3 percent), Georgia (5.0 percent), Kazakhstan (3.3 percent), Pakistan (3.2 percent), the UAE (2.9 percent), Saudi Arabia (2.9 percent), Kuwait (1.8 percent), Uzbekistan (1.7 percent), China (1.6 percent), Turkmenistan (1.4 percent), and Ukraine (1.4 percent). Citizens of other countries accounted for 11.3 percent of the total.
Among the visitors, 72.2 percent were men, while 27.8 percent were women.
The data also reveals significant increases in visitors from several countries compared to last year, including Israel (up by 3.9 times), Tajikistan (1.9 times), China (1.8 times), Spain (1.7 times), and Jordan (down by 44.6 percent), India (44.0 times), Kyrgyzstan (25.7 times), Kazakhstan (21.0 times), Pakistan (19.6 times), Egypt (18.9 times), the USA (17.4 times), and the Netherlands (16.5 times).
However, there was a notable decline in the number of visitors from the European Union (EU), with a 1.6 percent drop to 11,000 people, and from Gulf countries, where the number decreased by 9.9 percent to 62,100 people. Visitors from CIS countries also saw a decline of 9.2 percent to 107,400 people. On the other hand, the number of arrivals from other countries rose by 10.8 percent to 158,100 people.
As many as 71.2 percent of foreign visitors traveled by air, 27.2 percent by rail and road, and 1.6 percent by sea.
