ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 1. The volume of Kazakh oil transported by sea increased by 22 percent over the year, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan exported about 13.17 million tons of oil by seaway in 2024, up 2.39 million tons or 22.2 percent from 2023.
According to the company's latest report, around 7.72 million tons of Kazakh oil were transported via the Mediterranean Sea. This is an increase of nearly 1.28 million tons or 19.8 percent compared to the previous year.
“The growth was driven by increased oil transportation through the Mediterranean due to higher shipment volumes from the Port of Ceyhan, as well as expanded volumes along the Aktau–Makhachkala and Aktau–Baku routes in the Caspian Sea,” the company emphasized.
During the same period, about 3.37 million tons were transported via the Black Sea, which is 0.24 million tons or 6.5 percent less than the previous year. Meanwhile, 2.08 million tons were transported through the Caspian Sea, which is 1.35 million tons or 2.8 times more than the previous year.
