ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 17. The Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU) reports that 19,247 passenger and commercial vehicles were sold in April 2025, marking a 35.9 percent increase compared to the same month last year, Trend reports via KAU.
In total, since the beginning of the year, official dealers have sold 66,090 vehicles compared to 53,605 units last year (+23.3 percent).
"The growth in sales is accompanied by the strengthening of the positions of Kazakhstan-made cars: in April, their share reached 64.61 percent. This ratio in the demand structure confirms that domestic cars and the variety of models from local car manufacturers meet consumers' expectations in terms of quality, cost, and after-sales service," said Anar Makasheva, president of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU).
According to KAU, the top 10 best-selling cars remain almost unchanged, with Hyundai leading (4,393 units; +44.4 percent compared to April last year). Chevrolet continues to hold the second position with 2,725 units sold (+84.5 percent). Kia is in third place with 2,207 units (+25.2 percent). The Chery brand has returned to fourth place with 1,434 units (+38.8 percent). Jetour is in fifth place with 1,368 vehicles sold (+114.8 percent).
Additionally, there is strong growth in the return of Skoda (280 units; +536.4 percent) and Lada (204 units; +423.1 percent) to the market. BYD has made a solid start with 136 units sold in April.
The top-selling models in April were: Chevrolet Cobalt (2,194 units), Hyundai Tucson (1,762 units), and Kia Sportage (1,000 units). Following them were: Hyundai Mufasa (745 units), Hyundai Elantra (580 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (548 units), Chery Tiggo 7 Pro (538 units), Kia K5 (495 units), Haval M6 (456 units), and Geely Coolray (393 units).
As of the end of April, Hyundai continues to lead the brand rankings with 16,098 units sold (+30.7 percent), followed by Chevrolet with 8,734 units (+81.4 percent) and Kia with 7,112 units (+7.1 percent). Chery dealers sold 4,531 cars (+1.3 percent). The top five best-selling brands is rounded out by Jetour with 4,471 units (+74.5 percent).
