ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 21. By the end of 2025, the modernization of five road customs posts on the Kazakhstan-China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan borders will be completed, Trend reports.
According to the government of Kazakhstan, these posts include the Temir Baba, Kyzylgurt, Tazhen, Maykapchagai, and Bakhty localities.
Additionally, phased work is underway to equip these posts with intelligent video surveillance systems to monitor the movement of vehicles and cargo from the moment they enter, along their route, and until they exit Kazakhstan.
During a visit to the Kazakhstan-China checkpoint "Nur Zholy," Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar inspected the ongoing work aimed at improving and accelerating logistics. By the end of 2025, the construction of a bypass road for oversized cargoes at the "Nur Zholy" area is planned to be completed.
"This will ensure an increase in freight traffic, improve services, and give a new boost to trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and China. Currently, together with the Chinese side, the possibility of introducing a 24-hour operation regime for checkpoints is being worked on, as well as increasing the reception of vehicles," noted the government of Kazakhstan.
Moreover, work is also being carried out in other sectors. For instance, in the railway sector, the construction of second tracks on the "Dostyk – Moyinty" section and a bypass railway line at the Almaty station is planned to be completed by December 2025.
In the maritime sector, the capacity of seaports for container handling is set to increase to 240,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) with the launch of a new terminal in December of this year. The opening of this facility will boost the transit potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
Sklyar reported the results of his inspection of transport and logistics infrastructure to Prime Minister Bektenov. He mentioned that digitalization is actively being implemented in the transportation sector. For example, in the aviation sector, the introduction of the "e-Freight" information system across all airports in the country, with full integration into the "KEDEN" and "Agriculture" systems, is planned by December 2025. This will ensure a complete transition to a paperless workflow, the government emphasized.
