ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 21. Kazakhstan is interested in implementing the technologies and expertise of Tatneft into its domestic industry, said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov during a meeting with Nail Maganov, Director General of Tatneft, Trend reports.
During the meeting's proceedings, the stakeholders engaged in dialogue regarding strategic initiatives to enhance synergies within the oil and gas chemical sector, encompassing the advancements of a significant capital investment endeavor aimed at the synthesis of butadiene and synthetic rubber in the Atyrau region.
Bektenov articulated that the Kazakhstan government is amenable to engaging in constructive discourse to facilitate collaborative initiatives and identify synergistic solutions for partnership.
Furthermore, Maganov disseminated a comprehensive briefing regarding the project's prevailing operational status. Per his assessment, there is a dynamic engagement in progress with the contractor - the Chinese engineering entity, China Tianchen Engineering Corporation. The plan includes the annual production of:
60,000 tons of divinyl-styrene synthetic rubber (DSSR) for the rubber-technical industry and tire manufacturing;
40,000 tons of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) rubber, needed for road surfacing and plastics;
and 40,000 tons of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) as a
high-octane gasoline component.
The investment phase is expected to begin on July 1 of this
year.
The meeting also covered geological exploration at the Karaton Podsolevoi site, which is being carried out jointly with KazMunayGas. Drilling is currently underway for a deep exploratory well at a depth of 5,500 meters.
Attention was also given to the project for the production of terephthalic acid (TPA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
