BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. Iran faces no difficulties in oil sales, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said during a briefing with journalists following a Cabinet meeting, Trend reports.

The minister noted that despite facing challenges with oil sales in previous years, Iran has implemented various measures that have allowed exports to persist. He emphasised that the country consistently adopts strategies tailored to prevailing circumstances to sustain sales under all conditions.

In response to a question regarding the potential for rising imported gasoline prices or the introduction of multiple pricing tiers to trigger inflation through psychological effects, Paknejad clarified that gasoline pricing is not determined by the Ministry of Oil. Instead, a specialised working group has been established to assess this issue, consisting of representatives from economic, security, and social sectors.

Paknejad further explained that this group reviews proposed solutions, seeks approval from the relevant authorities, and subsequently communicates the final decision. He highlighted that while the cost of imported gasoline presents a financial challenge to the budget and warrants action, the government's primary objective is to ensure that any forthcoming policy does not impose undue burdens or restrictions on the public.

A total of 74 oil fields and 22 gas fields currently operate in Iran. Among them, 37 oil fields are managed by the Southern Oil Fields Company, 14 by the Central Oil Fields Company, five by the Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, and 18 by the Offshore Oil Company. Gas fields are distributed similarly: five under the Southern Oil Fields Company, 13 under the Central Oil Fields Company, one under Pars Oil and Gas Company, and three under the Offshore Oil Company.

Iran’s total hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion barrels, of which approximately 340 billion barrels are recoverable with existing technologies, around 30 percent of the total, while the remaining 70 percent remains undeveloped.
