ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 9. Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, held a meeting with Liu Yongsin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chinese corporation East Hope Group, where discussed the prospects of implementing a project in Kazakhstan to create a vertically integrated industrial park for the production of non-ferrous metals based on the principles of a circular economy, Trend reports.
According to the information, the project is aimed at establishing a complete production cycle for the production of "green" aluminum products and covers several priority areas: raw material extraction, aluminum-based product processing, and deep processing of high added-value materials.
The first stage of the project includes the construction of a mining and beneficiation plant for processing bauxite with a capacity of two million tons per year and an electrolytic aluminum plant with a capacity of 1 million tons per year. According to the company's estimates, more than 10,000 permanent jobs will be created during the project's implementation.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set the task to build a more diversified and future-oriented economy. We are gradually reducing dependence on the raw material sector and developing high-value-added production. The creation of vertically integrated aluminum production in Kazakhstan is a unique project that will ensure comprehensive development of this sector within the structure of domestic industry. The Government of Kazakhstan is ready for long-term cooperation," emphasized Bektenov.
Liu Yongsin noted that Kazakhstan plays an important role as a logistics hub of Eurasia, demonstrating unique geographical advantages and development potential within the framework of the joint "Belt and Road" initiative. He mentioned that Kazakhstan's particularly rich mineral resources and ongoing industrial modernization strategy fully align with the global priorities of the company in the fields of "green" aluminum, modern agriculture, and renewable energy.
Subsequent to the convening, relevant sectoral ministries were
delegated the responsibility of facilitating requisite support for
the execution of the project. The organization has delineated
specific obligations, encompassing the upskilling of indigenous
workforce and a phased augmentation of the proportion of
Kazakhstani employees.
East Hope Group stands as a preeminent entity within the upper
echelon of the global aluminum sector, strategically advancing
initiatives across the domains of polycrystalline silicon,
sustainable energy solutions, the agro-industrial paradigm, and
cutting-edge technological innovations.
