BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. The cargo turnover of Russian seaports from January through September 2024 decreased by 3.5 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 667.4 million tons, Trend reports via the Association of Sea Trade Ports.
Dry cargo transshipment amounted to 332.4 million tons (-4 percent), including coal - 143.4 million tons (-12.4 percent), grain - 56.9 million tons (+3.8 percent), cargo in containers - 40.8 million tons (+9.6 percent), mineral fertilizers - 32.2 million tons (+21.5 percent), ferrous metals - 14.1 million tons (-14.3 percent), ore - 8.4 million tons (+13.1 percent), and cargo on ferries - 6 million tons (-1 percent).
The turnover of liquid cargoes amounted to 335 million tons (-2.9 percent), including crude oil - 202.4 million tons (-1 percent), oil products - 98.9 million tons (-8.6 percent), liquefied gas - 26.1 million tons (+4.5 percent), and food cargoes - 4.6 million tons (+6.8 percent).
Meanwhile, 526.5 million tons (-3.2 percent) were transshipped for export and 31.5 million tons (+8.1 percent) for import.
The Caspian basin seaports increased cargo turnover to 6.2 million tons (+9.3 percent), including 4.3 million tons of dry cargo (+21.2 percent) and 2 million tons of liquid cargo (-10.1 percent).
However, the cargo turnover of the port of Astrakhan increased to 3 million tons (+7.1 percent), while the port of Makhachkala reduced cargo turnover to 2.4 million tons (-7.2 percent).
