BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 18. Kyrgyzstan imported 18,627 passenger cars worth $149.9 million from January through February 2025, which is 9,200 units, or 33.1 percent, less than the same period in 2024 (27,844 cars).

The data obtained by Trend from the National Statistics Committee indicates that the total value of these imports fell by $330.3 million, or 68.8 percent, from $480.2 million in 2024.

South Korea remained the top supplier of passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan, delivering over 10,370 units during the two months (up by 2 times year-on-year). Meanwhile, car imports from China, previously a leading source, dropped by 78.4 percent to just 3,811 units. Additional shipments came from Georgia, the US, and Russia.

Kyrgyzstan's total foreign trade volume amounted to $2.07 billion in January–February 2025. The figure declined by 13.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $314.4 million, down by 4.7 percent, while imports fell by 14.6 percent to $1.76 billion. Exports accounted for 15.2 percent of total trade, and imports made up 84.8 percent.
