ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 18. Turkmenistan exported 4.3 bcm of natural gas through the Malay-Bagtyyarlyk gas pipeline in the first nine months of 2024, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's official media.
According to the information, most of the exports were directed to China.
The achieved results were possible due to the effective exploitation of existing fields and the development of new ones. The commissioning of a gas compressor station at Malay Field played an important role in this. In addition, work is underway to repair existing wells and explore new gas-bearing areas.
The “Lebapgazchykarysh” Department of the State Concern “Turkmengaz” continues to actively increase gas production, meeting both domestic needs and a significant volume of export supplies. The efforts of specialists and the modernization of technologies make it possible to achieve high performance and steadily increase the volume of blue fuel production.
Progress in developing new fields and improving production technologies contributes to the country's export potential. The department has successfully exceeded the plan for gas production in January-September 2024, supplying 43.5 million cubic meters more than it was planned.
To note, the Russian company Stroytransgaz signed a contract with Turkmengaz for the construction of the Malay-Bagtyyarlyk gas pipeline in Turkmenistan, which runs through the Karakums, in 2008. The pipeline, part of the Central Asia-China system with a design capacity of 30 bcm of gas, was completed in October 2012. The contract included engineering, equipment supply, and construction of an 184.5 km section.
