TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 25. Uzbekistan plans to create a special logistics and sorting hub for agricultural goods in China, Trend reports.
The news followed a meeting between the representatives of the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture with the Chinese Xutong Xian Logistics company on increasing export volumes of agricultural goods produced in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the issue of organizing a trade hub in China’s Xi'an.
The Chinese side promised to organize a showroom for Uzbek products. The exhibition will feature legumes, dried products, and various types of nuts.
At the end of the meeting, the sides reached agreements on creating favorable business proposals for Uzbek products.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 1 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $607.3 million from January through June 2024. This figure has increased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period last year (955,200 tons in January–June 2023).
Russia accounted for the largest volume of horticultural product exports from Uzbekistan, with a total volume of 348,400 tons worth $250.1 million. Kazakhstan ranked second with 335,800 tons of exports worth $101.7 million, followed by Pakistan with 89,000 tons of horticultural products exported worth $92.7 million from January through June 2024.
