TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 8. In the first quarter of 2025, Uzbekistan's Turakurgan Thermal Power Plant made notable progress in line with Uzbekistan's State Program for the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy.
According to the data obtained by Trend from Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants, the plant generated 1.3 billion kWh of electricity, which was successfully delivered to consumers. The specific fuel consumption for generating one kWh of electricity stood at 227.6 grams/kWh.
As part of the ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and reduce production costs, the plant saved 10 billion soums ($771,053) in the first quarter of 2025. These savings were achieved through the implementation of practical organizational and technical measures aimed at optimizing the use of fuel and energy resources, leading to a reduction of 2.6 million kWh of electricity consumption.
In addition, the plant is making strides in renewable energy. A photovoltaic station with a capacity of 4.5 MW, covering an area of 4.9 hectares, is operational. This station produced over 1 million kWh of electricity in the first quarter of 2025, which was directed towards meeting the plant's own energy needs.
Employees at the plant are also contributing to the efficient use of renewable energy. To date, 74 staff members have installed solar panels with a combined capacity of 310 kW in their homes.
Meanwhile, the Turakurgan Thermal Power Plant currently produces an average of 20 million kWh of electricity per day, supplying the country's unified energy system.
