BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. The transshipment volumes of essential goods (wheat, barley, corn, soybean, rice, sugar, and oil) in Iran's ports have increased by 14 percent during the four months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), the statistics of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization said, Trend reports.
A total of 7.45 million tons of essential products were unloaded in Iranian ports during the four months.
During the four months, 1.93 million tons of soybeans, 761,000 tons of barley, about 328,000 tons of wheat, and 14,100 tons of rice were mainly unloaded in the country's ports.
Furthermore, 336,000 tons of sugar and 426,000 tons of various types of culinary oils were unloaded in the country's ports during the mentioned period.
Approximately 307,519 trucks and 10,696 railcars were used for the transportation of essential products inside the country during the four months.
To note, according to the statistics of the Iran Customs Administration, during the 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024), about 8.25 million tons of essential products (corn, oilseeds, rice, etc.) were imported to Iran worth $4.88 billion.
