Iran sees growth in cargo transportation from Ardabil province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25. The volume of cargo transported from Ardabil Province, located in northwestern Iran, increased by 18 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), Director General of the Road and Transportation Department of Iran's Ardabil Province Kalimollah Vosughi told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, 3.5 million tons of cargo were transported from Ardabil province to different regions of the country during eight months. However, in the same period last year, the volume of transported cargo from the province stood at 2.9 million tons.

Vosughi pointed out that cement, potatoes, wheat, iron ingots, watermelons, construction materials, etc. were mainly transported from Ardabil Province.

The official noted that 1.64 million tons were transported from the Ardabil district, 849,000 tons from the Namin district, 324,000 tons from the Parsabad district, 198,000 tons from the Khalkhal district, 143,000 tons from Bilehsavar district, 142,000 tons from the Meshkinshehr district, 89,000 tons from Aslanduz district, and 68,000 tons of cargo were transported from Ghermi district.

To note, a total of 90 companies, 13,550 trucks, and 12,000 drivers are working in the field of cargo transportation in Iran's Ardabil province.
