Volume of essential commodities unloaded at Iran's ports grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25. The volume of essential products (wheat, barley, corn, soybean, rice, sugar, and vegetable oil) unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 10 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ports and Maritime Organization indicates that 14.5 million tons of necessary products were unloaded in Iranian ports during eight months.

Meanwhile, about 862,000 tons of wheat, 1.65 million tons of barley, and 5.68 million tons of corn were unloaded in Iranian ports during eight months.

Moreover, 4.62 million tons of soybeans and 124,000 tons of rice were unloaded in Iranian ports during the eight months.

About 875,000 tons of sugar and 708,000 tons of vegetable oil were unloaded in the country's ports during the mentioned period.

The information adds that more than 155 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during eight months.

To note, the current throughput capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports by 500 million tons.
