BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 26. The transit of products via Anzali Port in Gilan Province in northern Iran has increased by 34 percent during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of Iran's Gilan Province Ports and Maritime Administration Hossein Younesi told reporters, Trend reports.
He stated that Anzali Port handled the transit of 50,000 tons of products for nine months. The transported products included grain, fuel, equipment, and automobiles.
Younesi reported that the Anzali Port handled the loading and unloading of approximately 1.5 million tons of cargo over a period of nine months. This port also handled the loading and unloading of about 3,500 TEU containers.
The official emphasized that during the specified period, Anzali Port exported 376,000 tons of oil and non-oil products. The product exports increased by 51 percent compared to the same period last year. The exported products were mainly petrochemical products, construction materials, mining minerals, and others.
To note, the annual throughput capacity of Iran's Anzali Port is 10 million tons. This port is considered one of Iran's main ports on the Caspian Sea.
