BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. A total of 45.2 trillion rials (about $79 million) will be invested in five new projects at Chabahar Port in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Trend reports, citing the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Today, February 22, an event took place at Chabahar Port in Iran, featuring the presence of Farzaneh Sadegh, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, along with various officials.
The investments will cover several key initiatives: 30 trillion rials (about $52.4 million) will go toward the first phase of the railway network, while 8 trillion rials (about $14 million) will be spent on the construction of a platform for the loading and unloading of crude oil and petroleum products.
On top of that, a whopping 7 trillion rials (around $12.2 million) is set to be earmarked for the construction of two warehouses for dry goods, while a tidy sum of 230 billion rials (approximately $402,000) will go towards building a new security facility at the port.
According to Iranian officials, about $1 billion has been invested in Chabahar Port over recent years. The port has a cargo handling potential of 8.5 million tons annually and can accommodate ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons.
