BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Electricity production at the Yazd Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in central Iran has increased by 19 percent during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), Mohammad Hassan Jamaladini, the Executive Director of Yazd Power Generation Management Co., told reporters, Trend reports.
Jamaladini stated that the electricity production at Yazd TPP reached 5.29 million megawatt-hours during the 11 months of the current year.
He added that the plant is expected to generate 5.7 million megawatt-hours of electricity in the year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), which would represent a 23 percent increase compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
Iran's Yazd TPP has two gas units with a capacity to generate 162 megawatt-hours of electricity each and one steam unit with a capacity to generate 160 megawatt-hours of electricity. In total, the TPP can generate 484 megawatt-hours of electricity.
Iran's electricity production potential previously stood at 93,455 megawatts. The production potential of Iran's thermal power plants is 76,257 megawatts, the production potential of hydroelectric power plants is 12,144 megawatts, the production potential of retail power plants is 2,485 megawatts, the production potential of renewable power plants is 1,450 megawatts, the production potential of the Bushehr nuclear power plant is 1,020 megawatts, and the production potential of diesel units is 408 megawatts.
