BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. Iran's gasoline consumption has risen significantly, with an increase of 19.6 million liters, or 17 percent, compared to the same day last year, Trend reports citing the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC).
On March 27, approximately 135 million liters of gasoline were expended nationwide, in contrast to the 115 million liters recorded on the corresponding date in the previous year.
Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (from March 21-27), daily gasoline consumption has averaged 124 million liters.
This uptick in consumption aligns with the Novruz holiday, a
period characterized by heightened domestic travel and festivities
that generally amplify the demand for gasoline.
At present, the hydrocarbon feedstock comprising crude oil and gas
condensate undergoes processing at a total of 10 oil refining
facilities within the jurisdiction of Iran. In excess of 70 percent
of the petroleum derivatives generated domestically—specifically,
75 million liters of gasoline and 70 million liters of
diesel—adhere to the stringent Euro-4 and Euro-5 regulatory
frameworks. Iran is strategically positioning itself to escalate
its gasoline output to a projected 129 million liters per day by
the year 2029.
