BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Iran’s South Pars Gas Company processed over 17 billion cubic meters of gas at its 12th Refinery during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), supplying the national gas network, Mehdi Gerami Shirazi, the refinery's director, told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Shirazi, the facility produced over 55,000 tons of ethane, 480,000 tons of propane, and 170,000 tons of butane.
He emphasized that the plant is aligned with the company’s production goals, focusing on quality improvement, increased output, and minimizing environmental pollution.
Iran's South Pars Gas Company's (SPGC) 12th Refinery processes gas extracted from phases 22, 23, and 24 of the South Pars gas field, which is a shared resource between Iran and Qatar. This plant is capable of producing gas condensate, natural gas, propane, butane, ethane, and sulfur.
The South Pars Gas Company processes the rich gas extracted from the South Pars gas field, receiving 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily. Of this, 580 million cubic meters are processed and delivered to the national gas network. Additionally, the company produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur each day.
The South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
