BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Iran’s imports from Kyrgyzstan saw a significant decline by 36.7% in value and 38.6% in weight in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025) compared to the same month of the previous year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration (ICA) indicates that the country imported 101 tons of goods worth around $238,000 from Kyrgyzstan in the first month.
Meanwhile, the figures stood at roughly 164 tons valued at about $376,000 in the same month of the previous year.
The International Cooperation Agency observed that the Islamic
Republic of Iran predominantly sourced agrarian commodities and
phosphoric acid from the Kyrgyz Republic.
The analytics indicate that the aggregate trade throughput between
Iran and Kyrgyzstan during the initial month reached approximately
$2.19 million and 1,960 metric tons. This indicates a contraction
exceeding fifty percent in both valuation and mass relative to the
corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year.
Furthermore, as delineated in the ICA report, Iran's aggregate
non-oil product imports in the inaugural month amounted to $2.85
billion, encompassing a total mass of 1.8 million tons. In
juxtaposition to the corresponding timeframe from the previous
fiscal year, this denotes a marginal uptick in valuation while
concurrently reflecting a pronounced contraction in throughput.
Iran strategically emphasizes the procurement of critical
commodities that align with national exigencies while instituting
specific constraints on the influx of items that are currently
manufactured within its borders.
