BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Product imports through the customs offices of Golestan Province, located in northeastern Iran, in the first 2 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2025) increased by 35 percent in value and 262 percent in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), said Shahriyar Shahriyari, Director General of the provincial customs, Trend reports.
In his statement to local media, Shahriyari noted that over this period, products worth $17.3 million and weighing 11.6 million tons were exported through the province's customs offices.
Shahriyari added that during the same period, various goods, including electrical equipment, diesel generators, soybean oil, and other items, were imported through Golestan’s customs checkpoints.
The customs official noted that the imports came from several countries, including China, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, India, Vietnam, and others.
To note, Iran’s non-oil imports during the 2-month period reached $8.47 billion in value and 5.92 million tons in weight. Compared to the same period last year, non-oil imports decreased in value by 7.8 percent but increased in weight by 1.16 percent.
