BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 28. Iran's Ramin Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Khuzestan province boosted its electricity generation by 10 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 20 through September 21, 2024), compared to the same period last year (March 21 through September 22, 2024), the TPP's Head Mohsen Hafezi told reporters, Trend reports.
Hafezi said that this thermal power plant produced 4.76 million MW of electricity in six months of the current year.
He explained that the plant operated at full capacity for six months, especially during peak times (in Iran, electricity consumption peaks in summer).
Ramin TPP, the largest one in Iran, has six steam units, each with a capacity of 315 MW-hours. The power plant can generate a total of 1,850 megawatt-hours of electricity.
The country's total electricity generation potential is 93,455 MW, of which 76,257 MW accounts for TPPs, 12,144 MW - hydroelectric power plants, 2,485 MW - retail power plants, 1,141 MW - renewable power plants, 1,020 MW - Bushehr nuclear power plant, and 408 MW - diesel units.
