BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. Iran's petrochemical production capacity will hike by nine million tons in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), the production control manager at Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Saeed Baghbani told reporters, Trend reports.
He said that this increase in capacity is expected to raise revenue of Iran's petrochemical sector to $23.6 billion.
Baghbani added that this will build up the country's petrochemical production potential to about 105 million tons.
The company official pointed out that the current production capacity of the country’s petrochemical sector stands at 96 million tons, and last year, 74.9 million tons of petrochemical products were made, meeting 92 percent of the planned production target.
To note, Iran is presently home to 72 petrochemical facilities.
The capacity for petrochemical output stands at an impressive 96
million metric tons annually.
Over the forthcoming quinquennium, a total of 61 novel
petrochemical facilities are slated for establishment, backed by a
capital infusion of $24 billion, which will augment production
capacity by an impressive 35 million tons per annum.
Iran is strategically positioning itself to amplify its
petrochemical output to a staggering 186 million tons within the
forthcoming decade.
