BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. Iran’s total iron and steel exports during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) reached a value of $6.58 billion, amounting to 30 million tons.
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) shows that the value decreased by 13 percent, while the volume grew by 0.2 percent compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
In the previous year, Iran exported 29.9 million tons of iron and steel, valued at nearly $7.6 billion. Specifically, during the last year, Iran's export of crude steel was valued at $2.77 billion, totaling 6.09 million tons. This represents a 26 percent decrease in value and a 22 percent reduction in weight compared to the previous year ($3.76 billion for 7.84 million tons of crude steel).
Over the reporting period, Iran’s exports of steel products amounted to $1.94 billion, with 3.94 million tons shipped abroad. This marks a nine percent increase in value and a 15 percent rise in weight compared to the previous year ($1.77 billion, with 3.43 million tons exported).
Meanwhile, Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year.
Iran's Customs Administration data shows that the country's total exports of non-oil products amounted to 141 million tons worth $53.4 billion during 11 months of the last Iranian year. Compared to the same period last year, non-oil exports increased by 19 percent in value and 12.6 percent in weight.
