ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 12. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin met with the management of the Hungarian company "UBM Group," where the parties discussed the details of implementing a large investment project for the production of premixes and animal feed in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
During the bargaining process, it was stressed that as part of the venture, it is proposed to build three plants over two years, from 2025 to 2027, with a production capacity of 48,000 tons of premixes and 300,000 tons of animal feed per year, along with a laboratory and a training center. If all goes according to plan, Kazakhstan will be hitting the ground running with its first large plant for premix production and the biggest animal feed production facility in the region. This will pave the way for import substitution in animal feed, with over 250,000 tons currently crossing the border into the country.
"Kazakhstan is interested in developing projects for deep processing of grain, meat, and milk. Recently, we announced an investment order in several sectors, with food production being a key focus. We are aimed at ensuring the country meets its own food production needs, especially for socially important products, with at least 90 percent of the demand being met by domestic production. We invite your company to consider investment opportunities in this sector as well," said Zhumangarin.
For his part, UBM Group shareholder Akos Varga expressed his
readiness and high interest in establishing new production
facilities in Kazakhstan.
According to him, the company has the know-how, the muscle, and the
cutting-edge tools to get the job done. The project includes the
construction of plants in the Kostanay and Karaganda regions and
the city of Almaty.
To put it in a nutshell, a business partner and a site for the
plant have already been nailed down in the Karaganda region of
Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, in Kostanay and Almaty, partners have been
lined up, but the location for the plants is still up in the air.
There are plans to build another plant in the southern regions of
Kazakhstan, but a Kazakh partner for its implementation has not yet
been found. Akos Varga appealed to the Vice Prime Minister to
assist in resolving the issue of determining the construction sites
in the Kostanay region and the city of Almaty.
Following the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister instructed the regions, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, to finalize the land plots by the end of March so that investors can proceed with land preparation work without delay and start the second phase of the project in the second quarter of this year.
