ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 16. Kazakhstan and China deepened bilateral cooperation during the “China–Central Asia” Forum held today in Astana, with the signing of investment agreements totaling more than $24 billion, Trend reports.
Among the key deals, Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna signed two memoranda of understanding with major Chinese companies to advance infrastructure development and digital innovation.
Samruk-Kazyna and China Harbour Engineering Company agreed to pursue comprehensive cooperation in Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and energy sectors. The memorandum outlines plans to work together on mutually beneficial projects in key areas of the national economy.
In a separate agreement, Samruk-Kazyna and HUAWEI Technologies Kazakhstan signed a memorandum aimed at developing a strategic partnership. The two parties will collaborate on digital transformation, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, and the introduction of advanced information and communication technologies across the country.
The forum brought together government officials and business leaders from China and Central Asia to foster regional investment and partnership opportunities. The deals signed reflect growing economic ties between Kazakhstan and China, especially in sectors critical to Kazakhstan’s long-term development strategy.
