New markets for steel export in North Africa will be divided between Iran and CIS countries, Deputy Director of Marketing and Sales at the Isfahan Steel Company Ahmad Dashtianeh told Trend.

“The CIS countries are currently the main competitors of Iran in steel export markets, but since the possibility of China returning to the market is low, emerging markets in North Africa will be divided between Iran and the CIS countries. We do not worry about this,” Dashtianeh said.

He noted that the CIS countries and Turkey will try to take a larger share of the market.

“The CIS countries have slightly lower prices. On the other hand, Iran has the geographic advantage. Our access to target markets is better because of the geographic area,” Dashtianeh noted.

He also said that Iran is aiming at reaching 55 million tons of steel production per year by 2025.

“Currently, our main problem is marketing of our products. The government needs a thorough planning for steel export in the future,” Dashtianeh concluded.
