BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The average daily consumption of gasoline in Iran increased by 13 million liters in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the last year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari said, Trend reports.

Salari noted that, on average, 116 million liters of gasoline have been consumed in the country per day since the beginning of this year.

The deputy minister emphasized that daily gasoline consumption in the country (13 million liters) is equal to the production of one oil refinery. That’s why optimizing gasoline consumption and paying special attention to energy consumption should be a serious issue.

Paying attention to the increase in annual gasoline consumption compared to previous years, the deputy minister also said that four years ago (March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), the annual consumption of gasoline in Iran was 27 billion liters, but with the current consumption, it can be noted that the country's annual consumption has reached 42 billion liters.

The Iranian side states that, on average, 115 million liters of gasoline and 112 million liters of diesel are currently produced daily in Iran.

At present, over 70 percent of gasoline and diesel in the country (75 million liters of gasoline and 70 million liters of diesel) is produced in accordance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.

By March 20, 2027, it is planned to produce more than 75 percent of gasoline and diesel in accordance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.

Currently, 2,286,000 barrels of crude oil and gas condensate are processed by Iran’s 10 oil refineries per day.
