BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 27. A new car manufacturing plant will be launched next year in Kyrgyzstan’s Chuy region, where vehicles will be produced under a Kyrgyz brand, Arslan Baziev, head of the Industrial Policy Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, said on the local radio, Trend reports.
"The plant is being built in partnership with the Chinese company Jaecoo. We plan to launch production next year, and after that, we will start manufacturing cars under our own brand," Baziev explained.
Baziev emphasized that the automotive industry is complex and specialized, adding that companies typically begin production in phases when entering a new market. The first phase involves large-scale assembly, followed by small-scale assembly, and eventually, localization.
He pointed out that Uzbekistan reached full localization of its automotive industry only after 30 years.
Jaecoo, a division of Chery Automobile, focuses on producing and exporting SUVs and crossovers to Europe, Russia, Malaysia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
