DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 11. Petroleum products accounted for 5.5 billion somoni ($504.7 million) of the total retail sales in Tajikistan in 2024, Trend reports via the country’s State Statistical Agency.
Moreover, livestock products were sold for 1.7 billion somoni ($156 million), vehicles, motorcycles, and spare parts for 612.8 million somoni ($56.2 million). A total of 13.5 billion somoni ($1.2 billion) was spent on vehicle maintenance and repair services.
Food products represented 49.9 percent of the total retail trade volume, totaling 27.7 billion somoni ($2.5 billion), while non-food goods made up 50.1 percent, amounting to 27.8 billion somoni ($2.5 billion).
Among food products, meat and meat products (15.5 percent), bread and bakery items (17 percent), sugar and confectionery (4.5 percent), vegetables and potatoes (5.4 percent), and vegetable oils (4.3 percent) had the largest shares. In the non-food category, construction materials (30 percent), vehicles and spare parts (9.6 percent), gas products (9.6 percent), and electrical appliances (4.6 percent) were the top sellers.
