DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 3. The volume of fish farming production in Tajikistan reached 45.1 million somoni ($4.5 million) in the first four months of 2025, which is a 20 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Agricultural and Environmental Statistics Department of the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
During this period, fish farms across the country produced a total of 1,585 tons of fish. The highest yields were recorded in the Khatlon region (958.1 tons), followed by Sughd (399.1 tons), the Districts of Republican Subordination (227.5 tons), and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (0.4 tons).
Among the most commonly farmed species were silver carp (622.4 tons), white amur (200.7 tons), trout (198.9 tons), common carp (170.6 tons), zander (2.3 tons), and other species (390.2 tons).
Moreover, production costs for fish farming operations, including scientific research, amounted to 3.7 million somoni ($371,392) over the reporting period.
