BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. More than 50% of internal roads in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan, have been reconstructed in recent years.

This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, citing a statement by Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev made during the official opening ceremony of the renovated A.S. Pushkin Park in Karakol.

"More than 50% of internal roads in Karakol have been reconstructed in recent years. The Khan-Tengri residential area is particularly encouraging. It is a separate new neighborhood in Karakol. The modernization of drinking water supply and sewerage systems is also continuing," Adylbek Kasymaliev said.

He noted that the international Karakol Airport is currently the city’s largest construction project.

"We must develop Karakol’s infrastructure with an eye not only on today but also on the future. May our Karakol become even more beautiful tomorrow, while the fame of Issyk-Kul continues to grow," Adylbek Kasymaliev added.

Meanwhile, Karakol is one of Kyrgyzstan’s key tourism centers and the administrative capital of Issyk-Kul Region. The city serves as an important gateway to the Issyk-Kul area and the surrounding mountain destinations.

In recent years, infrastructure development in Karakol has focused on road reconstruction, housing construction, and the modernization of water supply and sewerage networks.

The city is also undergoing development of its transport infrastructure, including the construction of the international Karakol Airport. The project is expected to improve the city’s connectivity and support the development of tourism and related economic activity.

Karakol is located near Lake Issyk-Kul, one of Kyrgyzstan’s main tourist destinations, which attracts visitors with its mountain landscapes, recreational facilities and winter tourism opportunities.
