BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Product exports from Anzali port in Iran's northern Gilan province increased by 49 percent during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), the Director General of Iran's Gilan Province Ports and Maritime Administration Hossein Younesi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 255,000 tons of products have been exported through Anzali port during the six months.
Younesi added that petrochemical products, construction materials, mining minerals, and many other things were exported to Caspian countries during the six months. During the mentioned period, 30,000 tons of cement were exported, which is 10 times more than the same period last year.
The official noted that 505,000 tons of necessary products (wheat, barley, corn, pressed soybeans, and vegetable oil) were imported via Anzali port over six months.
He stated that about 2,610 tons of TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in the port during the six months. A total of 339 ships were called at this port during the mentioned period.
To note, Iran's Anzali port is considered one of the country's major ports on the Caspian Sea. The annual capacity of the Iranian Anzali port is 6.15 million tons.
