BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. An average of 124,600,000 liters of gasoline was delivered daily to gas stations for consumption in Iran from March 20 through October 15, 2024, the executive director of Iran's National Petroleum Products Distribution Company Karamat Veis Karami said at an event organized on October 16 with the participation of the company's officials, Trend reports.
According to him, this represents a 7.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. However, in the same period last year, 116 million liters of gasoline were dispatched to gas stations for consumption.
Veis Karami added that diesel consumption in the country averaged 111 million liters per day during the mentioned period. Diesel consumption increased by 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
“Over 125 million liters of gasoline were produced on average per day in Iran during the seventh month (from September 22 through October 21, 2024). For example, Iran's Western Azerbaijan Province produces 3.7 million liters of gasoline daily. However, the consumption of the province is five million liters per day. Considering all this, it is necessary to work towards compatibility between production and consumption,” he said.
To note, crude oil and gas condensate are currently refined at ten refineries in Iran. Presently, more than 70 percent of the gasoline and diesel - 75 million liters of gasoline and 70 million liters of diesel - is produced under Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards in the country. It is expected that by March 20, 2027, more than 75 percent of this produced gasoline and diesel will be produced under Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.
