Iran's Anzali port posts notable uplift in transit and export activity

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. Transit traffic through Anzali port of Gilan Province, located in northern Iran, province has surged by 71 percent during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), the Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Gilan Province, Hossein Younesi, told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Younesi, a total of 67,800 tons of goods were transited through the port during this period, marking a remarkable increase.

The official further added that the total volume of goods loaded and unloaded at Anzali Port for the 11 months was substantial.

"In addition to this, about 442,000 tons of goods were exported, reflecting a growth of more than half compared to last year's figures. Construction materials and petrochemical products were the primary exports through the port," Younesi said.

Furthermore, Anzali Port handled a significant amount of containerized cargo, with over 4,400 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) being processed.

Younesi added that Anzali Port received over 663 ships from Caspian Sea countries, delivering goods such as grain, vegetable oil, timber, and other essential products.

The annual throughput capacity of Iran's Anzali Port is 10 million tons. This port is considered one of Iran's main ports on the Caspian Sea.
