BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. A solar power station valued at 220 billion rials (about $385,000) has been commissioned in the Shahrud County of Semnan province in northern Iran, Trend reports via the Iranian Ministry of Energy.
The 800-kilowatt station, inaugurated on May 23 with the participation of Deputy Energy Minister and head of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), Mohsen Tarztalab, was installed over the past five months and is now connected to the national power grid.
Additionally, installation has begun on solar power stations totaling 3.4 megawatts in Shahrud, including units of 200 kilowatts each, which are expected to become operational gradually within the next three months.
SATBA notes that Iran’s solar power generation potential exceeds 1.7 gigawatts, with plans to increase production capacity to 4.7 gigawatts by the summer season.
